Lloret de Mar es el centro clave del turismo de la Costa Brava.

Town Hall, 1868-1872

The Town Hall was constructed according to plans drawn up by architect Féliz de Azúa, who conceived a magnificient building in the Neo-Classical style holding on its façades the town´s coat of arma with the symbolic laurel tree and featuring an impressive wrought-iron belfry. The budget for this work was totalled 49,915 pesetas, four times the town´s budget for that year.
To place the Town Hall close to the seafront meant a complete reorganising of Lloret, for it determined the subsequent alignment of splanades and buildings.

The Town Hall stands on one side of the Plaça de la Vila, starting point of Passeig Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer running paralel to the beach front. The promenade is flanked on both sides by lines of majestic pal-trees, beneath which visitors soak up the sun and have a drink at the pavement cafés.

D'EN PLAJA CASTLE

This building, situated at the end of the Sa Caleta beach, is in fact a house-castle built by the Girona industrialist, Narcís Plaja. The project, dating from 1935, was the work of the Girona architect, Isidor Bosch. Construction work, though, was not completed until the 1940s, once the Civil War had finished.

This construction of the building was surrounded by controversy among the local people. Despite this, however, the image of the castle has become one of the symbols identifying Lloret,as, year in year out, it is the subject of postcards and photos taken by the thousands of tourists visiting the town.

Monument to the Sailor´s Wife

Since it was erected in 1966 to commemorate Lloret de Mar´s Millenium, the Dona Marinera (Fisherman´s Wife) has become one of the most emblematic symbols of the town.
This bronze sculpture, created by the artist, Ernest Maragall, stands on the rock at the end of Lloret beach and represents the figure of a woman looking out to the sea in greeting or welcome.
It is a tribute to those women of the seafaring times who were often left in charge of the household while their husbands were looking for fortune at the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
Legend has it that whoever touches the foot of the sculpture while looking out at the horizon, will have their wish come true.

Maritime Museum of Lloret, Can Garriga (1887)

A trip to the town´s past.
The Maritime Museum, wich is located in the Casa Garriga, is the entranceway to the Lloret Open Museum. It is strategically located in the centre of town, accupying an old "Indiano" house on the seaside boulevard. The centre summarises all of the elements the make up the heritage of Lloret de Mar, using the sea as the common thread or guiding principle. The museum focuses on the landscape, the archaelogical heritage, the history, and the physical and human landscape.
Just as the City Hall, built in 1872, closed off Verdaguer street to the west, the façade of one of the Garriga houses closed it off to the east, giving this area a very pronunced character.
This will entail considerable effort on Lloret´s part but one within its reach to preserve a building which, like so few others, bears witness to the splendorous past the 1800s naval period, since Garriga houses are directly related to Lloret´s colonial past.
The emblematic Garriga Houses will become the Tourism Office and the Museu of the Sea. Thanks to the new museum based techniques and the inclusion of educational and entertaining features, visitors to the Maritime Museum can partake in the authentic trip through the history of Lloret and its links to the sea. This exhibition centre have 5 essential parts of interpretation of the history of lloret de Mar; The son´s of Lloret, Mare Nostrum, Sailing around the world, Lloret maritime ancestor´s and the sea: Lloret looks to the futue.

The Lloret Open Museum (MOLL) is an imaginary network that allows you to discover various places of historic, cultural and natural interest. It is an open space, without walls, that covers different locations throughout the territory and allows you to find out about the town´s heritage.
The idea of an open museum in the fresh air is to offer direct contact with the heritage, so that visitors feel like participants and not simple observers.
Besides, the items to visit have easily accessible panels displaying information.

Lloret de Mar´s Theatre

Lloret de Mar´s theatre is a venue that respects and is fully integrated within its setting. The town´s Theatre is located at Can Xado´s park, near the Conference Center and the Gran Casino Costa Brava. With a capacity of up to 400 people, three rehearsal rooms with independent entrances and a 270 m2 scenario. Outside there are a sitting area and a stage for outdoor performances. Its multipurpose rooms make it and ideal venue for hosting meetings, dinners and exhibitions. The facility stands out for its funcionality.
The project is from Domenec and Girbau, Domenech i Montaner´s great grandson and designer of Corona d' Arago´s building, the new Barcelona´s institute, the center of Federico Garcia Lorca in Granada and technical services building among aothers.

Su extensión es de casi 50 km2 y su principal patrimonio son sus playas. La ciudad de Lloret de Mar se sitúa entre las poblaciones de Blanes y Tossa de Mar. Lloret de Mar es famosa por sus magníficas playas, calas y calitas, que cautivan a sus visitantes.

* Cala Banys:

Longitud: 50 metros, composición de rocas, ocupación: Medio, baño: No, tipo: Oleaje moderado. Cala compuesta únicamente por rocas, donde más que de un baño puede disfrutarse de la pesca y de un bonito paseo por un entorno rocoso.

* Cala Canyelles:

Longitud: 400 metros, composición de arena, ocupación: Alto, baño: Oleaje moderado, tipo: Dorada. Playa galardonada con la Bandera Azul, que dispone de un pequeño puerto y de un Club Náutico.

* Cala Tortuga:

Longitud: 100 metros, composición de bolos, ocupación: Bajo, baño: No, tipo: Oleaje moderado. Playa aislada de difícil acceso compuesta de rocas y carente de cualquier tipo de servicios para el uso del público.

* Cala des Frares:

Longitud: 130 metros, composición de bolos, ocupación: Bajo, baño: No, tipo: Oleaje moderado. Cala de piedras carente de servicios e infraestructuras, y muy incómoda para el baño.
